Special 57th National Council Session

Late last month, Girl Scouts of the USA’s National Board called the first-ever special session of the National Council on October 19, 2024, to discuss increasing youth and adult membership dues.
GSEMA National Delegates have been preparing for this session by studying a proposal workbook and meeting regularly to explore and discuss the nuances of each membership fee increase proposal. This process also includes soliciting and reviewing feedback from GSEMA members.
On Saturday, October 19, Girl Scout delegates from around the country will gather virtually to conduct business of the National Council in our first-ever special session. The session will discuss two National Board proposals to increase annual membership dues.

Following the October 19 session, GSEMA will share the proposal outcomes report summary with our membership.
At Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts’ annual meeting in May 2022, 15 national council delegates were elected to serve a three-year term representing GSEMA at the national council session in July 2023. The delegates studied a variety of proposals, engaged and gathered feedback from council members, and took action to be the voice of GSEMA during the national proceedings. Proposal outcomes were reported in August 2023. These delegates continue to be authorized to vote on behalf of our council in the interim.
GSUSA CEO Bonnie Barczykowski provides an overview of the two membership dues increase proposals to be discussed on October 19, 2024.
