Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is revolutionizing STEM education with STEM ON-THE-GO. Designed to ignite curiosity and exploration, this mobile learning center is dedicated to bringing the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math directly to Girl Scouts in grades K-12.

We will empower Girl Scouts to explore their interests and potential with hands-on STEM learning opportunities while embracing their diverse backgrounds and unique circumstances. Youth participating in these activities will earn Girl Scout badges through skills-based experiential learning activities, thus fostering their journey to become future leaders in STEM.

Alternative Energy (Brownie & Junior) toggle arrow

Discover the science behind solar panels, wind turbines, and other types of renewable energy! Practice with circuits, then measure and compare the different energy outputs produced. Roll up your sleeves and experiment to determine how many blades a wind turbine needs to lift a weight. Finally, race a car powered by your chosen form of energy.

Calling all future coders! Bring your coding skills or learn how to code for the first time! Program a robot to navigate a maze and see what other challenges you can program your robot to complete!

Drones (Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador) toggle arrow

Learn how to operate a drone to help communities and expand our understanding of science! Practice or develop your coding skills to tell the drones where to go. Brainstorm issues in your community that a drone could solve. Finish your activities with an engineering challenge related to drones and helping others!

Let’s dig in and explore the natural world! Examine animal skulls and tracks, and use a microscope to see how scales, fur, leaves, or other items look in greater detail. Collect natural items to study; what we find outside will depend on your site. We bring the equipment, and you provide the location. If no outdoor area is easily accessible, we can provide natural materials upon request.

Do you have a fun orunique idea that can improve an everyday item or task? This is your chance to bring your creativity to life with your very own invention! Learn to use some of our fun tools, and then see what you can build to solve a problem or help others. Then, connect your invention to a computer to see what else you can do!

Calling all space enthusiasts! Walk through the solar system to see how much “space” is in outer space. Explore the sun, moon, planets, stars, and more! Learn how to use a telescope and then use one to view the daytime or nighttime sky (weather permitting).

Calling all space enthusiasts! Experiment with light in different wavelengths and design a solution for light pollution. Reenact the lifecycle of a star, including a supernova. Explore planets, stars, and more! Learn how to use a telescope and then use one to explore more in the daytime or nighttime sky (weather permitting).
