Want to go boating? Small Craft Safety is required to take any Girl Scouts boating on GSEMA properties.This course will cover all the basics of canoeing: boating equipment, paddle strokes, swamped boat rescues, and ways to keep boating fun and (most importantly) safe! Participants should be prepared to be on the water throughout the day. Please note: we will practice how to get back into a boat after it capsizes, and YOU WILL GET WET!
Materials will be sent with confirmation. Class time will be spent in canoes and on/in the water practicing canoe skills and rescue procedures. Bring extra clothes and GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints approved water shoes. Bring lunch/snacks and refillable water bottle.
