Waltham, Mass.- Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) is lighting Boston and beyond green in celebration of the 111th birthday of Girl Scouts of the USA. Keep your eyes open this Sunday, March 12 as Boston City Hall, the Zakim Bridge, the Longfellow Bridge, the Fore River Bridge, and Dorchester Gas Tank lights turn to green.
For the last 111 years, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges and take part in the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program for girls in the world, the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
Every Girl Scout Cookie purchase fuels local Girl Scouts' adventures throughout the year: exploring what interests them, discovering their passions, and taking action on issues they care about. Whether they're using their STEM skills to solve a problem, changing a law to help their community, having a courageous outdoor experience, or starting an innovative nonprofit, Girl Scouts build a better future for themselves and the world.
Since its founding, Girl Scouts has been, and will continue to be, an organization rooted in activism and advocacy-in making the world a better place. On March 12, young leaders around Eastern Massachusetts will be able to see the city lit up in support for their current and future activism.
