Curious about how to use a map and compass, and how to teach those
skills to your Girl Scouts? Thinking about bringing your troop to an
orienteering event but don't know what to expect? Then come join
volunteers from the New England Orienteering Club to learn how to read
and orient a map and tips for how to pass those skills along to your
troop members. You will participate in a short orienteering course to
practice your new skills.
Bring your own compass or
borrow one of ours. Maps in plastic map bags will be provided.
Event will occur in rain or snow or sun. Please dress to be
outside the whole time.
Aimed at adult leaders but older Girl
Scouts are welcome to attend.
Please be sure to review the Safety Activity Checkpoints for this activity, which includes, but is not limited to the presence of a GSEMA approved first aid/CPR certified volunteer.
