The Cape Cod Maritime Museum’s Young Mariner Program connects youth with Cape Cod’s rich maritime heritage and marine environment through hands-on exploration and discovery. Designed for students and Scouts alike, our programs blend marine science, history, and outdoor adventure to inspire curiosity, confidence, and stewardship of the ocean.

During the school year, Scouts can participate in immersive field trip programs at the museum, featuring guided exploration of exhibits, interactive maritime heritage lessons, and “vocation stations” that introduce real-world maritime and STEM careers.

In the summer, the program expands to include on-the-water experiences aboard the museum’s vessels, Adventure and Sarah, where participants learn about sailing, water quality, navigation, and marine conservation while exploring Lewis Bay and Hyannis Harbor.

Whether earning a badge, working toward a Journey, or discovering new passions through participation in the Young Mariner Program, Scouts will leave with a deeper appreciation for Cape Cod’s maritime world and their role in protecting it.

We believe flowers and plants are teachers. When a girl learns to identify a stem, understand water absorption, create balance in a vase, and care for living things, she's learning patience, creativity, and responsibility all at once. She's connecting with nature in a real way.

Our programs combine education with empowerment. Girls leave with:

Knowledge of flower types, seasonal availability, and design fundamentals

Hands-on skills they can use to create gifts for people they love

A deeper appreciation for nature and what it offers us

Confidence in their own creativity and ability to make something beautiful

Whether it's a flower badge workshop, a seasonal planting program, planter gardens for them to enjoy or a wrapped arrangement class, we tailor each experience to meet badge requirements while celebrating the girl's individual growth. We source quality flowers locally and globally, create custom educational content, and show them that working with nature builds real-world skills and connection.

Our goal is simple: empower Girl Scouts to see flowers and plants not as decorations, but as living gifts they can nurture, understand, and share with their community.

The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women was inspired by the United Nations’ Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China in September 1995. The conference directed state governments to “form and adequately fund Women’s Commissions in all states and territories where they do not already exist.” Massachusetts’ delegates at the Beijing Conference including then Massachusetts First Lady Susan Roosevelt Weld, returned determined that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts should have its own Women’s Commission.

With the help of many including state legislators, a unique and model Commission was created in May 1998 with appointing authority shared by the Executive and Legislative branches. Since conception, our 19 volunteer commissioners, staff and interns have dedicated themselves to the promotion and protection of equality for women and girls in all areas of their lives.

Based at our family farm, we welcome Girl Scouts to experience hands-on learning in a safe and supportive environment centered around our horses and animals. Our program introduces girls to foundational horsemanship skills, including the parts of the horse, basic nutrition, grooming, tacking up, barn safety, and proper leading techniques.

Girls will then participate in a brief, guided ride where they learn how to mount correctly, steer, and guide their horse through a simple exercise course set up in our arena. Throughout the experience, Scouts gain confidence, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to care for large animals thoughtfully and safely.

Beyond horsemanship, our farm provides the opportunity to unplug, spend time outdoors, and connect with animals in a meaningful way. We emphasize safety, teamwork, and respect, for the horses, for each other, and for the environment around us.

We would love to partner with local troops to create a memorable experience tailored to your girls’ age level and badge goals. Gather your troop, lace up your boots, and come join us at the farm for a day of learning, leadership, and adventure.

At She Thrives, we understand the "growing pains" involved in puberty and periods. Entering this journey of growth and change can be scary, embarrassing, uncomfortable, and even isolating. Who we're with, language used, and "vibe" of the atmosphere greatly influences how new information is imprinted on our brain, long-term. It's not just about what content is taught, but how it's delivered. Did you know experts developed a theory that the female response to stress is to "tend and befriend"? This means conquering challenging experiences through connection and bonding. With a careful balance of creativity and clinical expertise, we have developed a body change themed learning experience that cultivates confidence, comfort, and autonomy for girls with their peers: "Period Party" and "B-Wise Body Bash". Multiple badge earning opportunities. Structure and material covered is adaptable, considering ages/stages of development. You come to us or we come to you! Curious? Fill out an inquiry form here.
