Wampanoag

This Martha's Vineyard camp features a lodge that was completed in June 2007, complemented by three cleared acres and a wooded area. It is the perfect base camp from which to explore the island. The heated lodge, with indoor bathrooms, a kitchen with appliances (but limited kitchen supplies) and fireplace, is available for overnight or day use. There are also platform tents, a bunkhouse, and a fire circle. The camp is 11 miles from the ferry docks, generally too far for bicycling, and island buses do not stop at the camp. However, there are several vehicle rental services on the island. This property is available for troop and organization rentals, but does not host summer camp.

DIRECTIONS

Address: 172 Middle Road, Chilmark MA

From the Steamship Authority dock in Vineyard Haven, turn left onto water Street and pass the Stop & Shop supermarket. Take the next right onto Beach Road, which turns into State Road. Stay in left lane and continue on State Road for several miles. At a main fork in the road, take the right fork to stay on State Road. Continue again for several miles until the road forks again. Stay to the left (do not take right turn toward Menemsha). At the next major 4-way intersection, turn right at the fairgrounds (large agricultural center building). Take the next big turn to the left and continue for approximately 5 miles. Take the first right, Middle Road, and continue for approximately one mile. Camp Wampanoag will be on your left. Look for a pink mailbox and sign at the driveway entrance.
