The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from HSI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to relating with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun.

GSEMA is pleased to offer this course to our Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador level Girl Scouts. It will provide content that can assist in completing badges at those program levels. This course fully completes the Cadette Babysitting Badge which, upon completion, you may purchase at the council shop. This course is available to individual Girl Scout members or groups/troops. Each class is limited to 12 students and a minimum of one additional adult volunteer will be required on site to meet required safety ratios. No more than 3 adults volunteers will be allowed in the teaching space at a given time. Adults are not required to pay or register for the course, but will need to inform the instructor of attendance in advance. These adult slots will be filled on a first come-first served basis.

This course is offered by GSEMA as a blended course for all participants. This course includes:

-    A CABS Student text
-    an online portion that is self-paced and takes approximately 2 hrs. to complete which needs to be completed before the in-person skills class
-    a 2.5 hr., in-person skills practice class
-    2-year certification in Child and Babysitting Safety

Once you register for a skills class date/time you will be registered for your online course and will receive a link to do that online portion at your own pace.

The online course must be completed before your in-person skills class and both parts are required to receive certification.

Course cost: $40.

Financial assistance is available for youth to take this course.
